The Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM) was established in 1962 and is part of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It houses a national key laboratory and three CAS key laboratories, along with several research units and a complete technical support system, including testing centers and systems engineering departments. The institute is equipped with over 100 large and medium-sized instruments and has established twelve specialized laboratories.
Research focus:
• Fundamental Optics: Transient optics, photonics theory, and technology.
• Space Optics: High-resolution visible light space information acquisition, optical remote sensing technology, and interferometric spectral imaging theory and technology.
• Optoelectronic Engineering: High-speed optoelectronic information acquisition and processing technology, advanced optical instruments, and underwater optical technologies.
